Taxes are collected by the government...
Have you ever noticed a K or a U on the label of one of your favorite products from the grocery store? Were you curious enough to find out what this stood for? Or were you totally unaware that there was a hidden meaning behind these codes?
For a number of years I have heard about a so-called “Kosher Tax” that is added to items you purchase at the supermarket. It seems that this “tax” is collected by local rabbis. However, this is impossible because taxes are collected by governments. I have not yet met a politician who would share a taxing opportunity with anyone, even a rabbi.
I will state here for the record: There is no such thing as a “Kosher Tax.” Now, some of you who have made this false claim are shaking your head and are probably getting angry as you read this. But, please bear with me.
In my research, I came across a website, www.jewishrecipes.org. This website answered my question about a Kosher Tax being levied on products. It claims: “Is there really a Jewish Tax on Food? The answer is NO!”
However, you will also discover on this website, that there are food companies who will pay a fee to advertise their products as Kosher. The website states: “A kosher label is a form of direct advertising, telling the customer that ‘this food is kosher and meets biblical standards in how it was prepared, and in what different products were used to prepare it.’ This too, is a good thing, because food companies wouldn’t do this if it didn’t make good business sense and mean an increase in sales, which means an increase in profit.”
Now, oh doubting Thomas, you are probably shaking your head in agreement with me. I didn’t claim that there could be extortion...err...advertising fees, I only claimed there was no “Kosher Tax.” These “fees” are incorporated into the cost of items that you and I buy every time we shop.
Corporations pay a fee for a rabbinic union to inspect the production of their products for kosher certification. That fee is then passed on to you the consumer. All this is done for the 1-3% of the popuation that are Jews in the United States. (Click image for larger version)

What Does Kosher Mean?
According to their “doctrines of men”—the Babylonian Talmud—Orthodox Jews are forbidden from eating meat from any animal that does not have a split hoof and chew its cud. Fish are kosher if they have fins and scales. There is also a lengthy list of birds which are not to be eaten. Kosher birds include chickens, ducks, geese, doves, and quail, among others. Non-kosher birds include owls, pelicans, eagles, ostriches, vultures and more.
Pigs are not kosher because they don’t have split hooves nor chew their cud. Rabbits, though they chew their cud, do not have split hooves. These same “food rules” forbid Jews from eating any meat along with any dairy product at the same meal. If they eat meat they must wait six hours before they can eat any dairy food.
Though “Kosher” means fit to eat, it does not mean that the quality of the food is better. American food products are already inspected by local and federal government agencies to insure quality and edibility. Mainly, food that is labeled kosher conforms to the man-made traditions laid out in the Talmud.
The Apostle Paul, in his first letter to Timothy, clearly has a differing opinion on these food rules:
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”

Kosher Labeling Is A Racket
The term extortion is not out of line in this regard. If the manufacturers and processors do not fall in line and have their products certified “Kosher” they will face boycotts and will have the dreaded “anti-Semite” label hurled at them. This “Kosher Racket” was exposed by William Zukerman in his publication Jewish Newsletter (Vol. XV No. 11, June 1, 1959) in response to an article published in the Wall Street Journal. Mr. Zukerman wrote:
“What the Wall Street Journal failed to report is that this business of ‘strict supervision by rabbis for kosher products’ has already become one of the big business rackets in the United States and is threatening to assume gigantic proportions.
“The ‘Kosher Racket,’ as it is called, operates simply and effectively... The kosher labels are issued by rabbis who are very well paid for their certification services.”

However, Americans are not the only people subjected to this “marketing fee.” Many nations import food from the United States and in many instances, these foodstuffs have already been certified as Kosher. No matter where you live, every time you eat you are paying this fee.
Can Non-Food Products Be Kosher?
According to Wikipedia, there are over 1,100 kosher certification agencies worldwide. In the United States, more than 80 percent of kosher food sold is certified by five agencies. These five agencies are: OU, OK, KOF-K, Star-K, and CRC.
It may surprise you the number of products that you use daily have a “Kosher” certification stamp from one of the many such agencies. Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil carries the U of the Orthodox Union, as does Clorox Cleaner + Bleach. I implore you to peruse your pantry, laundry room, and itemize the number of products that you have unknowingly purchased with the kosher “seal-of-approval.”
Why are foam plates, coffee filters, aluminum foil and household cleaners certified as kosher? What biblical values make nonconsumable items kosher? (Also included are some of the kosher union labels that you may find at your local grocery store. Click image for larger version)

Most advertising agencies will cover up kosher symbols in their ads in non-Jewish publications. This is a clear violation of the “Truth in Advertising Law.” However, if the ad appears in a Jewish publication you can expect this certification to be front and center.
This multi-million dollar scheme is making some rabbis very wealthy. Organizations like AIPAC, the World Jewish Congress, and others are clearly benefiting from the financial windfall being reaped by these racketeers.
Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar supervises an inspection for kosher certification. There are over 1,100 kosher certification agencies worldwide.

No one else but Power of Prophecy would be bold enough to expose these swindlers for what they are. We have been commanded by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to expose these evildoers:
“...men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest” (John 3:19-21)
