A Reckoning Is At Hand
“A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on.”

Truth. It seems to be a rare commodity these days. During the recent Democratic debates for potential nominees it was thrown down and stomped on. Their reasoning must have been people don’t want the truth anymore, they just want to hear what makes them happy.
Each of the Democratic candidates seems to be trying to give away the farm to sway voters. From outlandish claims about free education, free housing, free health care, to open borders and convicted felons being given the right to vote, no promise is too large to espouse. Unfortunately, these professional liars know they cannot possibly deliver on these promises.
Truth in Media
Main Stream Media has also cast truth by the wayside. In this age of “Never-Trump,” facts and verification processes have taken a back seat to hateful vitriol. Recently, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell claimed that President Trump had Russian oligarchs as co-signers on his loans. Later, O’Donnell was forced to offer a retraction of his statement. Rachel Maddow built her entire show around the “Russian collusion hoax” after the 2016 election.
Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell merely echo the vitriol of the far left and claim it to be truth.

Sadly, many co-called journalists no longer report the news, but instead report their opinions of the news. Truth appears to be in a witness protection program when it comes to news reports. With the proliferation of alternative news outlets—and their expanding audience thanks to the internet—truth is beginning to see the light of day again.
Silicon Valley big-tech giants Google, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and others have claimed that they do not censor conservative or Christian speech. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, testified before Congress and bald-faced lied about his company’s actions. His claim that Google did not “intervene on any particular search result,” was proven a lie by a former engineer with Google who had been interviewed by an alternative media outlet.
True History is MIA
Our children are subjected to propaganda on a daily basis, whether in private or public schools. Today’s history books have been rewritten to reflect current belief structures, paying little heed to what really occurred. Truth matters not when attempting to influence these young minds to participate in “groupthink.”
True historians are mocked and denigrated because they don’t toe the company line. They are called “revisionists” and are labeled as truth-manipulators when, in fact, they use actual written records from that time period.
“To the victor go the spoils” is a term we have often heard. Many fail to recognize that history is usually written by the victors and never by the vanquished. Those who are truly in search of truth will research both sides of the scale to insure that facts are held in high esteem.
Truth Is Not a Defense
Case in point, anyone who denies that the holocaust didn’t occur as has been dogmatically written will face extreme backlash. The late Ernst Zundel published a pamphlet questioning the holocaust and was imprisoned for 5 years in Germany after being deported from the United States and Canada. His lawyer during the trial in Germany claimed that she was attempting to bring truth in Zundel’s defense, and as has been reported elsewhere, was rebuked by the judge who allegedly stated, “Truth is not a defense.”
Currently, our elected representatives in Congress are pushing for reparations for slavery. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is the loudest member advocating for this to happen. Sadly, Ms. Waters is only screaming on behalf of those who are of African descent, and has failed to consider how many Irish immigrants were sold into slavery. Truth be told, the African slaves were treated as investments while the Irish were a “dime-a-dozen“ and often worked to death.
Who is she demanding pay for these reparations? Will she petition the families of the African tribal leaders—or their nation—who captured and sold these people into slavery? Will she petition the family of the merchants and ship owners who participated as slave traders—which true history reports were predominately Jewish—or the nation of Israel?
The truth, in this case, seems to be a victim of circumstances. Because it does not fit the narrative that the progressive left have proclaimed, it must be a casualty of war. Charles Spurgeon was correct when he stated that, “A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on.”
From the Dawn of Time
Lies have been around since the beginning of time. The first written record of a lie occurs in Genesis 3:4-5 when the serpent speaks to Eve:
“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
|
When God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, one of them was, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.” The Holy Bible has many instances where God teaches us with repetition. In the first two chapters lies are shown to be sinful.
But Wait... There’s More!
There are many more instances in the Bible that reaffirm the fact that God hates lies. In Proverbs 6:16-19 we learn:
“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” [Emphasis added]

Lies are an abomination to our Lord! Revelation 21:8 reveals what shall happen to liars:
“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” [Emphasis added]

We all are guilty of telling a lie. If you claim you haven’t you are deceiving yourself. Our Pastor Emeritus Texe Marrs has told the story of telling his father a “white lie” to keep from getting into trouble when he was a young man. However, his father caught him in this lie and his response cut Texe to the quick. His father’s comment was, “I’m disappointed in you.”
When we lie, whether we deem it innocuous or not, we disappoint our Father in Heaven. Let that sink in for a moment.
No matter how painful it may be, the telling of a lie is too grievous to contemplate. I, for one, do not wish to meet Jesus and have him tell me, “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:23).
Jesus in Matthew 14:6 tells us, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Resist the temptation to spread falsehoods, repent of your sins. The Kingdom awaits you.
