Will President Trump Initiate the Building of the Third Temple in Israel?

The pictured article above was written in 2019 during President Trump’s first administration. The article goes on to say:

Many were skeptical of the story, rejecting the idea that Trump, a Christian, would inquire from a Jewish rabbi concerning the Messiah. But Trump, as the non-Jewish leader of the U.S., has a prophesied role to play in the building of the Temple and it was for this reason he inquired. Trump wanted to know when he will be called upon to perform this role.

Trump as the modern-day Cyrus

This expectation regarding Trump was first expressed by the Sanhedrin after his election (https://www.israel365news.com/78372/binexclusive-sanhedrin-asks-putin-trump-buildthirdtemple-jerusalem/) when they compared him to the Persian King Cyrus who commanded by God to facilitate the building of the Second Temple specifically because he was influential in global politics...

“Rabbeinu Behaye explained this is a tikkun (reparation),” Rabbi Berger said. “Rome destroyed the Second Temple so Rome’s descendants, the Christians, are going to amend this by taking part in bringing the Third Temple.”

Another pro-Israel website, jfeed.com (11/18/2024 by Gila Isaacson), offered this opinion about rebuilding the temple:

A non-Jew could rebuild the 3rd Temple—and we should be ashamed

Even Pete Hegseth is talking about rebuilding our Temple—so why are we so afraid to do the same?

Donald Trump’s dramatic return to the White House brought unexpected appointments. After naming Mike Huckabee—who views Judea and Samaria as the “Promised Land”—as U.S. Ambassador to Israel, he’s nominated Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense...

Following a Western Wall visit, Hegseth made these striking comments: “It made me think of another miracle that I hope you don’t see as far-fetched. Because 1917 was a miracle (Balfour Declaration), 1948 was a miracle, 1967 was a miracle, 2017’s Jerusalem capital declaration was a miracle. There’s no reason to think the miracle of rebuilding the Temple isn’t possible.”

How shameful that what’s clear to a Bible-educated American—that Israel’s destiny includes rebuilding its spiritual center—seems so complex to us. While we rationalize and dismiss portions of Torah we don’t “connect with,” Bible enthusiasts worldwide see the Temple as a natural progression of Israel’s restoration.

Says Pete Hegseth: “It made me think of another miracle that I hope you don’t see as far-fetched. Because 1917 was a miracle (Balfour Declaration), 1948 was a miracle, 1967 was a miracle, 2017’s Jerusalem capital declaration was a miracle. There’s no reason to think the miracle of rebuilding the Temple isn’t possible.”

Another popular organization seeking to build the third temple is The Temple Institute. According to publicity, they are drawing up formal blueprints, have already manufactured a number of different ceremonial objects to be used in the temple, and have brought over perfect red heifers from Texas for sacrifice and purification.

God sent a clear message for those who would build the third temple: For Orthodox Jews: God tore the veil in two and later tore down the temple so that one stone would not be left on top of another. God doesn’t want your empty sacrifices. He wants your heart. God gave you a Final Sacrifice which you spurned. For Christians: You negate THE Messiah—the Redeemer of the world. Jesus is the final sacrifice. Your temple delusion could condemn the very people you say you love. For the secular Jew: talk of building the third temple is fodder to use to keep Christians on the Zionist hook.

For Christians who think they should participate in building a physical third temple, they seek to help God usher in Bible prophecy—thus urging Jesus’ return. They mock God. They will also be the same ones who believe the lie when the Antichrist declares himself to be God.

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” —2 Thessalonians 2:11-12

Meanwhile, remnant Christians know the Bible teaches that believers are the Temple of God, and not built with human hands. Therefore there is no need to participate in the rebuilding of an earthly temple.

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” —2 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” —2 Corinthians 6:16

These same will understand the truth and be able to resist the snares. Matthew 24:13 says, “...he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

As an aside, there also seems to be some confusion as to where will the temple be built. What if the Temple Mount isn’t where the masses believe it is? There are many reasons to believe that the Western Wall is not part of the original Temple, but instead part of a Roman fort. That would be appropriate considering that the foundation for building the third temple is a lie in the first place.

Trump and his Zionist and Zionist-sympathizing cabinet is poised to do Israel’s bidding. Will it include initiating a third temple? Time will tell.
