“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:”

For those who are following along with the onslaught of racial issues plaguing our nation, this may not surprise you. “Wokeism,” “Critical Race Theory,” or “Anti-racism”—whichever nomenclature is the choice du jour on any given day—has its myriad of tentacles throughout American society today.
Of course, racism has been prevalent around the globe for many centuries. Even after Peter had educated people that God is not a respecter of persons, there are still those who claim to be Christian that hold bigoted beliefs. The Apostle Paul taught that those who “have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” If a true believer of Jesus Christ has put on Christ, whether they be Jew or Gentile, they are one in Christ Jesus.
Unfortunately, our history is not immune to racism and segregation. At one time even donated blood was segregated by race. This practice was finally ended during the 1970s after research proved there was no scientific basis for separation.
All in the Family was an American comedy television show that debuted in 1971. Archie Bunker was the lead character and patriarch with a narrow mind and a bigoted view of the world. In one episode, Archie had to have his gallbladder removed and is forced to accept a blood transfusion from a female West Indian doctor during the operation.
In typical Archie fashion, he asks, “You mix my white hemoglobins with her colored shemaglobins anything could happen.” She responds, “Not to worry my dear. Only one thing, though. You might have a strange craving for watermelon.”
In the 1970s this show broke many unspoken barriers and was a reflection of beliefs held by many. Could you imagine the hysteria that would follow if it were to have debuted now? Social Justice Warriors would be up in arms screeching and claiming this show proves their point about the need for a deep indoctrination of critical race theory!
The Philly Voice quoted one doctor, “As physicians, it is our duty to ensure the health of our patients. We have to stand up against anything that threatens their well-being. The health disparities that emerge as a result of systemic racism and discrimination are no exception.”

Sadly, have you contemplated the fact that racial profiling has invaded our hospitals and medical schools? A dozen doctors from around the country have created a support group that meets once a month on a remote video call. Their concern? The deeply illiberal ideology plaguing our country’s most important medical institutions.
These doctors lament this ideology is stifling critical thinking in the name of progress. It has turned students against their teachers and patients, and is a threat to the foundations of patient care, research, and medicine itself.
In some cases, doctors who have criticized residents for being late have been reported to their departments as being racist. Many doctors are afraid to give feedback for fear of retaliation. Some residents have even refused to treat patients based on their race or a perceived notion the patient is conservative.
This same fear of reprisal has led to many shoddy articles being published in respected medical journals. A study published last year in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences was disseminated widely on Lame Stream Media. Headlines were wildly obtuse: From CNN: “Black Newborns More Likely to Die When Looked After by White Doctors;” Forbes: “The Lack of Black Doctors is Killing Black Babies;” The Guardian (England): “Black Babies More Likely to Survive When Cared for by Black Doctors.”
Many doctors, speaking anonymously, have claimed it is impossible to come to a conclusion about the race of the treating doctor impacting the outcomes because of the flawed methodology. However, very few are willing to publicly criticize the findings posted.
For those few doctors who have dared to speak truth, demotion has been the least of the results. Dr. Norman Wang, a cardiologist from the University of Pittsburgh published a paper criticizing diversity initiatives in cardiology. In this paper he stated that meritocracy, and not skin pigmentation, should rule the day. His paper was retracted from the Journal of the American Heart Association and he was demoted by his department.

The Journal of the American Medical Association released a podcast hosted by Dr. Edward Livingston, a surgeon and, at the time, deputy journal editor. Dr. Livingston had the unmitigated gall to question the value of focusing on race in medicine and the idea that medicine was systemically racist. After severe backlash Dr. Livingston was asked to resign from the JAMA and the editor-in-chief, Howard Bauchner, was suspended and eventually stepped down from his position.
As more medical institutions commit to acquiescing to the social justice mob, the idea that medical professionals must put aside their feelings is now seen as old-fashioned. The next generation of trainees believe it is their duty to confront patients about their prejudices.
An ER doctor from the West Coast has claimed to have seen health-care providers, especially the young ones, choose who they allocate their time for based on anti-racist principles. According to this doctor, many have stated, “Whatever happened to the white guy, he probably deserves it.”
The days of the Hippocratic Oath have long passed us by. Between bioethicists—who decide whether a patient should live or receive proper treatment—and the new clan of “woke” doctors, healthcare is no longer in its halcyon days. If a patient is perceived to be a conservative, white, Christian will they receive proper care? Or will these snowflakes in white coats use their bully pulpit to preach their social doctrines?
Worry not dear friends, for God certainly calls on His children for different vocations. Some of them are called into medicine where His Glory is shared through the healing hands of these physicians. Jesus said in Luke 5:31: “They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.” I am convinced there are true Christian physicians who will not succumb to critical race theory. Seek them out and trust in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
